Words of Wisdom

07 Oct Words of Wisdom

In his book ‘An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth’, author Chris Hadfield shares Space wisdom that applies here on Earth.

Have a Plan of Action for Adapting to a New Environment

Can you imagine going into outer space without a plan for how to adapt? Neither can I. Hadfield helps us with 3 good tips about how that plan should look:

  1. The plan needs to break down what you are going to do into small, concrete steps
  2. Physical & psychological adaptation to a new environment (whether on Earth or in Space) isn’t instantaneous. There is always a lag between arriving and feeling comfortable
  3. Those small, concrete steps will bridge the gap.

Having difficulty adapting to our changing times on Earth? I suppose you could just head to outer Space. Or, stay here on Earth and follow Hadfield’s advice.

  • make a plan of action with
  • some doable, small, concrete steps
  • sounds good to me.

If you enjoy reading books, I highly recommend this one. You won’t be disappointed. Cheerios, ~Linda
